For this project I created illustrations for a kids product line in collaboration with Target. I created a wearable product, a bed set, and a decoration piece based on a circus theme for all genders. I wanted the brand to be colorful, fun, and delightful. To start off I drafted illustrations for animals, circus props, and the scenery. I then made them digital and created patterns/products based on these designs for the brand. I worked hard on finding something that was gender neutral, but yet still fun for kids to enjoy. Through this project I worked on illustration techniques, research skills, creating simplified patterns, choosing color palettes, and refining designs. Each step had intent and meaning behind it, as I was not only designing for the children, but the parents too. I learned new skills while doing this project and had a great time bringing my ideas to life. I also gained insight by researching Target’s brand and creating something that would work as a collaboration.
